Up to three butane or propane cylinders, 47 kg between them, with no limit on any one bottle. Caravans and campervans only, and for the vehicle's own lighting, heating and cooking. Secured against the movement of the ship, kept away from heat, and shut off at the cylinder for the sailing.
Pets
It depends on the ship that week. On the E-Flexers, Galicia, Salamanca and Santoña, it's 22 pet-friendly cabins or one of 12 kennels on deck 7, and the dog can't stay in the vehicle. The Cotentin is a working ro-pax and is more limited; Brittany Ferries doesn't list it on its pet pages at all, so confirm what your sailing carries before you book it.Paperwork: an EU pet passport or a GB Animal Health Certificate, a microchip, and a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old. A dog also needs a vet-administered tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before it comes back into Great Britain. An Animal Health Certificate has to come from an official vet within ten days of travel, so it's booked well before the crossing is.

Ashore

You're on the N13 south within minutes of the ramp.

You're on the N13 south within minutes of the ramp, in the early afternoon rather than at breakfast, so plan a short first leg. Utah Beach is about 45 minutes, Sainte-Mère-Église 40, Bayeux and the rest of the D-Day coast an hour and a quarter. Mont-Saint-Michel is about two and a half hours, and the A84 from there runs on into Brittany.

Seven rotations, four you can travel on, and the ship changes the night.

Brittany Ferries holds seven weekly rotations on the route, but the chartered Norbay runs freight only, so four a week carry passengers. Which four moves about, so check the timetable for your dates rather than assuming a daily boat.

More than anything else on this route. The Cotentin is a working ro-pax with limited facilities. The E-Flexers, Galicia, Salamanca and Santoña, are proper cruise ferries with restaurants and en-suite cabins. The ship is named at booking, so look before you pick a sailing.

No. Stena Line withdrew from the route in late 2025 and Brittany Ferries is the only operator now. Comparison sites still listing a Stena sailing here are working from stale data.
