Ireland

Campervan routes in Ireland.

Where to go, where to sleep, and what the driving is actually like.

On the ground

Ireland is a ferry and a different set of habits.

Narrower lanes, fewer aires, and campsites that fill in July and sit half empty in May. Which crossing makes sense is entirely a question of where you start: Cairnryan, Holyhead, Birkenhead, Fishguard and Pembroke are each somebody's obvious answer. There are no Ireland notes yet. The first goes up in November.

The trip starts on the water. Every ferry that takes a campervan to Ireland is on the ferry map, with times and sailings.

Now and then, by email.

The Ireland notes go out on this list. A new note when one is published, and a word when Quiet Route changes. No more than twice a month.
